During the autumn-winter period, awareness and preparation are increasingly important to stay safe in traffic. There are a number of things to consider, including how to make yourself visible in the dark.
With low-beam headlights, a pedestrian without a reflector can only be seen from a distance of 30 metres (or about 15 metres in fog, rain, or snow). If a person wearing a high-quality reflector in a visible place crosses the road, he or she can be seen with low-beam headlights at a distance of 130 metres and with high-beam headlights, at a distance of 300 metres. In other words, the reflector indicates from a distance whether the pedestrian is walking on the side of the road or is about to cross the road.
The postage stamp ‘Road Traffic Safety’ is printed on a reflective material with excellent properties to help you stay visible. All reflective material increases your safety!
