Description
ESTCube-1, a cubesat measuring 10 x 10 x 10 cm and weighing little over 1 kg is the first Estonian satellite and it is built in Estonia by students from Tartu University (coordinator), Estonian Aviation Academy, Tallinn University of Technology and University of Life Sciences. The satellite's payload has been developed in conjunction with Finnish Meteorological Institute and German Space Center (DLR). The main mission of the satellite is to test the electric solar wind sail, a novel space propulsion technology that could revolutionize transportation within the solar system. Our most far reaching goal is in addition to promote and develop Estonian space- and high technology industry by educating experts and promoting knowledge in space technology domain. We also aim to play an important role in educating and inspiring general public in space science and technology.
