The 20th Olympic Winter Games in the Piedmontese capital Turin as well as in its vicinity will be the second winter Olymipic Games staged in Italy. Estonian athletes have competed at Winter Olympic Games since 1928, winning a total of five medals, of these two gold medals: Ants Antson in 1964 in 1,500 m speed skating and Andrus Veerpalu in 2002 in cross-country skiing in the 15 km race.
